Description and General Purpose of the Workshop:
A single public workshop to engage stakeholders in the 2019 update of the Integrated Delivery Schedule (IDS) is being sponsored by the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force.
The updated Integrated Delivery Schedule will provide the sequencing of federally cost-shared Everglades restoration projects. It will provide the sequencing strategy for planning, designing, and constructing federal projects cost-shared with local sponsors as part of the Central and Southern Florida Projects (C&SF), based on ecosystem needs, benefits, costs and available funding. Public discussions related to the IDS will include construction timelines, interdependencies and benefits related to multiple projects.
The Task Force will provide feedback from the workshop to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District. The public is advised that it is possible that one or more members of the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District may attend and participate in this meeting.
The workshop will be held in the Governing Board Auditorium at the SFWMD in Building B-1 located at 3301 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach, Florida 33406.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will present a Project Management Plan (PMP) for the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands Project (BBCW) Phase 2. This PMP is being compiled to expedite the associated scoping and overall Project Implementation Report (PIR) process for BBCW Phase 2 when funding becomes available. To be as helpful as possible, the USACE has provided a copy of the draft PMP in advance of the meeting for our review.
We can help by reading the draft PMP before the meeting. Also, the USACE is asking for any new information that would be relevant to the Phase 2 project. If you know of any tools, monitoring, synthesis, reports or data that could help in the BBCW Phase 2 planning process, please be prepared to discuss at the July meeting and, if possible, please send the information to the USACE Project Manager, Marie Huber, at Marie.L.Huber@usace.army.mil
For example, latest sea level rise predictions may need to be incorporated into the new planning process. Another example is any project or operation changes that are relevant since the last report, such as the Combined Operations Plan for Modified Water Deliveries. One more example of helpful information would be large-scale restoration related efforts such as the Reasonable Assurance Plan for Miami Dade being initiated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in September. These efforts could provide important coordination opportunities to share data and tools and ensure consistency.
Please hold Tuesday, October 29, 2019 for the next meeting of the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force. The meeting will be held in the Yates Auditorium located inside the Main Interior Building, 1849 C Street, NW, Washington, DC 20240.
Additional information will be provided at a later date.
As a reminder, the next Joint Working Group/Science Coordination Group meeting scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 3:45 PM. The meeting will be held in the Governing Board Auditorium at the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) in Building B-1 located at 3301 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33406.
